Wynkoop Brewing Hosts Grand Re-Opening – Friday, April 22

Wynkoop Lightrail AleAfter undergoing a major remodel of the restaurant, brewing facilities and equipment, Wynkoop will celebrate it’s grand re-opening this Friday, April 22 with a showcase of the full range of updates and a host of new seasonal brews in rotation. From 3 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. guests can enjoy a beer and tour the new brewery; the re-opening falls on the same day as the launch of the Train to the Plane and will take part in the festivities going on at the 22nd and Wynkoop DIA line launch.

In honor of the A Line, attendees can try a throwback batch of the Light Rail Organic Ale made with organic pilsner malt and a blend of New Zealand grown hops. Pints of Light Rail are $4 all day Friday; public brewery tours are free and will run every 30 minutes. In addition, attendees can taste Saison done three ways—Saison de Seigle, the kettle-soured Necessity Saison, and the Forethought Saison, a barrel-aged sour—plus the limited-run Rye-Teo Old Chap, an imperial rye stout aged in Laws Whiskey House Secale rye whiskey barrels.

“We’ve taken the best of what’s classic about the Wynkoop and added a state of the art brew house,” explains Bess Dougherty, Barrel Troll (and Lead Brewer) at Wynkoop. “The new brew house means that we have an even better ability to develop complex taste and aroma profiles in our beers.  In addition, we have more capacity and are excited to be able to dig more deeply into experimental and barrel-aged beers, including high ABV selections. We’re making even better beer, a more diverse range of styles and we’re doing it all at the heart of Denver.”

Wynkoop FermentersAbout Wynkoop Brewing Company
In 1988 LoDo had no ballpark, no valet parking, no farm-to-table restaurants: just four guys who wanted to make really good beer. Those four guys were John Hickenlooper, Jerry Williams, Mark Shifler and Russell Scherer. They opened the first craft brewery in Denver on Skid Row in the century-old J. S. Brown Mercantile Building. Beer drinkers across the state braved the sketchy ghost town that was LoDo in the late 1980s for billiards and pints of Russell’s unexpected beer styles. He was one of the first professional brewers in the country to try his hand at mead-making, doppel alt, and cream stout. He was honored by the Brewers Association when he passed with the Russell Scherer Award for Innovation in Brewing, awarded each year at the Craft Brewers Conference to a brewer who knocks down doors.

Almost thirty years later, Wynkoop remains a Denver institution. We are still known for
innovative, ballsy brewers who put just about anything in the beer, including Rocky Mountain oysters, gummy bears and green chiles. It is known as the brewery that brewed a neighborhood because—without exaggeration—the Wynkoop helped spark the revitalization of LoDo. Today, our neighborhood is the heartbeat of the city, surrounded by iconic landmarks like Coors Field, Larimer Square, and the recently renovated Union Station across Wynkoop Street. We may be a bit biased, but we like to think that it all began with really good beer.

FATE Brewing Expanding to Previous Avery Brewing Location

Fate Brewing Co LOGO2015 has been a big year for FATE Brewing Company located in Boulder, Colorado. The brand recently signed on with Elite Brands of Colorado for statewide distribution, released three new canned products and now has another big announcement to share.

The brewpub will increase its capacity with the expansion into the space that formerly housed Avery Brewing Company for over 21 years.

Since opening in February of 2013, FATE has built a solid footprint around the state and gone on to win many awards including a Gold Medal in the German Style Kölsch category at the 2014 Great American Beer Festival for Laimas Kölsch Style Ale and a Bronze Medal in the Pro-Am category at the 2015 GABF for single hopped Citra IPA.

The beloved home of Avery since 1993, located at 5763 Arapahoe Ave in Boulder, will add much needed production capacity for the currently maxed out craft brewery.

“We increased our fermentation capability by over 80% at the end of 2014 in our existing space at the brewpub located at 1600 38th Street in Boulder,” said FATE Brewing Company owner Mike Lawinski “and that growth meant we met capacity in our current brewery footprint. The acquisition of the additional square footage and brewery equipment enables us to reward our loyal fans, the people who have loved our beer along the way and gotten us to where we are today.”

FATED, an exclusive brewery access program gives loyal fans access to special bottle releases only available and released to members. The $375 membership gets members over $500 worth of product, access and benefits including four 750mL bottles of the brewery’s most exclusive hand-signed member-only specialty release beer. The full list of benefits including members only gear can be found at FATEDbeer.com.

“No one outside the club will have access to these releases.” said FATE Brewing Company Head Brewer Jeff Griffith, “Plus the year long membership gets you discounts on beer and gear at the brewpub, first access to other specialty releases and much more.”

For more information on FATED exclusive access program visit FATEDbeer.com

The Post Brewing Company presents Jack’s Benevolent Bash

On Sunday, August 2, The Post Brewing Company will host Jack’s Benevolent Bash, an annual event that benefits The Autism Society of Boulder County and The Jack Ferrigno Send a Kid to Camp Grant. Jack’s Benevolent Bash will bring together The POST’s chef, brewer, and restaurant friends from across the country to cook, eat, drink, and play together.

Jacks_Bash_1Chef Brett Smith of The POST created the Jack Ferrigno Send a Kid to Camp Grant in 2012 in honor of his dear friend John Ferrigno’s son Jack, who had autism and passed away due to a seizure disorder when he was only eight years old.  Over the last three years they have raised $75,000 to send over 150 developmentally challenged kids to fun, confidence-building summer camps.

“This is an incredible relief to the families we help,” says Smith. “Many of them are struggling financially because of exorbitant medical bills and they are worried about how to provide care for their children. The grants also give these kids a chance to do something they might not otherwise experience. Last year some kids rode horses, went rafting, learned to swim or just got a chance to play with other kids.”

Jack’s Benevolent Bash will run from 1:00 – 4:00 p.m. at the Koenig Center at the University of Colorado, 1202 University Avenue, in Boulder. The Adam Bodine Trio will play live music throughout and Bret Saunders from KBCO will MC the event. Tickets are $100 per person and can be purchased here: www.autismboulder.org/

This year’s raffle features some incredible prizes including a 5 day getaway to Saint John, US Virgin Islands; 2 tickets to Boston to see Kenney Chesney live in concert; and a 3 day whitewater rafting adventure for 2 in beautiful Buena Vista, Colorado.  Raffle tickets are  $10 apiece and can be purchased here: https://asbc.raffleready.com/jacks-benevolent-bash-raffle

Chefs slated to lend their culinary talents to this year’s Bash include:
•    Hosea Rosenberg (Blackbelly Market, Boulder)
•    Ian Clark (Bru Handbuilt Ales and Eats, Boulder)
•    Rick Betance (La Revolucion Taqueria, Louisville)
•    Drew Honness (Sweet Cow, Louisville, Boulder, Denver)
•    Jen Bush (Lucky’s Bake Shop, Boulder)
•    John Hinman (The Post Brewing Co, Lafayette)
•    Justin Goerich (Zolo Grill, Boulder)
•    Brett Smith (The Post Brewing Company & GoodBird Kitchen, Lafayette)
•    Jed Bednarski (Victory Farms, New York)
•    Mike Fortino (Zozo’s Ristorante, St. John USVI)
•    John Ferrigno (Zozo’s Ristorante, St. John USVI)

The following breweries will be pouring pints:
•    The Post Brewing Company, Lafayette
•    Avery Brewing Company, Boulder
•    Wonderland Brewing Company, Broomfield
•    Odd13 Brewing, Lafayette
•    Liquid Mechanics Brewing Company, Lafayette
•    BRU Handbuilt Ales, Boulder
•    Industrial Revolution Brewing Company, Erie

“The community involvement is amazing!” Says Smith. “Lots of local friends come to help as well as people from as far away as Saint John and New York. We all get together to have fun and support a great cause. It’s a perfect scenario.”

About The Post Brewing Company:
A Big Red F Restaurant Group restaurant, The Post Brewing Company & GoodBird Kitchen brings family style dining and sessionable brews to Lafayette, Colorado and beyond. Over the last three years their Send a Kid to Camp program has awarded 150 families $500 grants each toward various therapeutic summer camps. The program has impacted the quality of life for many families because it allows the children to create new friendships, learn independence, gain self-confidence, and experience outdoor activities while attending these camps.  For more information, please visit www.autismboulder.org

Fort Love Brewers Jamboree: May 16, 2015

The 2015 Fort Love Brewers Jamboree was created by the Loose Affiliation of Fort Collins Craft Brewers (LAFCCB) a group consisting of the craft brewers in Fort Collins and Loveland. This event is envisioned as a journey through craft beer at a slower pace. Our goal is to put craft into the festival experience with a focus on the great culture of Fort Collins and Loveland breweries. This premiere event is for brewers, beer lovers and family and will have an emphasis on beer tasting, education, and brewers telling the stories of their journey into the craft beer industry.

What’s beer without good food? Admission to the Fort Love Brewers Jamboree will include small plates of food to pair with beer.

Why not support a cause? The Cache La Poudre River and Big Thompson are vital natural resources to the communities in Northern Colorado. Also, water is a main ingredient in beer, which is why we are supporting water advocacy and the proceeds will support Save the Poudre.

Gunbarrel Brewing Company’s first release party: January 24, 2015

Join Gunbarrel Brewing Company for their first tapping party at Grandma’s House on Broadway in Denver, Colorado on January 24 at 4:30. Gunbarrel Brewing will be pouring a limited release of Salt Lick Gose and Rosemerry Pale Ale. Salt Lick is our interpretation of Gose (pronounced “Gose-uh”), an ancient unfiltered wheat beer from Germany. With a cloudy yellow color and refreshing lemony twang, Salt Lick is brewed traditionally with coriander seeds, and has a pleasant sharpness from the addition of salt. The finish is dry, tangy, and effervescent. Rosemerry is Gunbarrel’s signature pale ale and boasts a flowery hop character, with hints of citrus and pine and a crisp finish. Dry hopped with fresh organic rosemary, this brew evokes memories of merriment.

The Tony Guacamole food truck will be there serving up tasty grub.

About Gunbarrel Brewing Company
Gunbarrel Brewing Company is a gypsy brewery based in Boulder. Crafted with passion by brewer Jamie Fox and his wife Marie, Gunbarrel Brewing Company is to be located in Boulder County, Colorado. While we seek out the perfect home for our brewery, we are gypsy brewing at a partner brewery in Denver. This relationship provides the creative freedom and facilities to brew beers that we can share with you until we have a taproom of our own.

Jamie has been brewing for the past fifteen years, and earned a Ph.D in neuroscience along the way. Marie has a background in marketing, hospitality and web development. Together, they share a passion for exploring the nuances and endless possibilities of craft beer.

We chose the name Gunbarrel for our brewery to pay homage to the rugged independent freedom of the West, and to honor the little slice of it that we call home. We look forward to pouring you a pint!
